True Representation
True Representation is the bullseye of democracy. True Representation means that at each level in society, people need to be truly represented in the decisions that affect them.
At BANR we agree with visionary Buckminster Fuller that to change the way things are, we need to build models that will make old, failing models obsolete. To this end, we are launching the True Representation project to engage people in a joint effort to learn together and experiment with ways to make everyday life more democratic.
On this page, you can explore resources to help you understand what this can look like. Although we are U.S.-based and some of our personal efforts are focused here, our community is international and the concepts and practices discussed here are being pioneered worldwide.

These four videos, along with BANR Founder Ted Wachtel’s book, True Representation: How Citizens’ Assemblies and Sortition Will Save Democracy, provide a good introductory overview to this topic.

True Representation goes beyond formal state governance to promote the notion that in any setting people are happier — and better decisions are made — when they are truly represented. These videos provide a further sense of the possibilities.
